We recommend a full Dental Health Examination every six months for patients to achieve oral health.
This appointment will be of adequate time to allow:
Preventive dentistry is one of the most important aspects of dental care.
We believe people should keep their teeth for a lifetime. Regular visits to both the dentist and hygienist help our patients eliminate and prevent dental problems.
Oral Hygiene Instruction Our friendly team is dedicated to providing you with all the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully look after your own mouth. We will discuss the toothbrush you are most suited to, demonstrate how to brush effectively, and show you how to use cleaning aids such as floss, interproximal (between the teeth) brushes, and mouthwash. We will also discuss the ways in which your diet can affect your oral health. Interaction is very important and any questions will always be welcomed!
Periodontal (gum) treatment Staining, plaque and tartar can be removed with our hand scalers, or with our ultra-sonic scaler. This vibrates quickly to break the attachment between the tartar and the tooth. Teeth are left feeling clean and the gums are then able to heal. Deep cleaning in periodontal (gum) disease cases can be carried out under local anaesthesia.
Fresh breath Bad breath affects a large percentage of the population and many of us have noticed bad breath in others. In many cases it is caused by gases/chemicals given off by the bacteria involved in gum disease.
Causes of bad breath include:
Fillings
Decay is removed from the affected tooth, and the cavity then shaped so that the edges are smooth. You will then have a choice of what type of filling material you would like to be placed in the hole. Teeth can be filled with a white material or a silver material. Your dentist will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each type of material with you, in order for the most appropriate one to be chosen for your particular case.
White fillings can be used to improve the shape and cosmetic appearance of teeth. Generally, white fillings are always used for front teeth.
Crowns
A crown is a restoration that covers all surfaces of a tooth, and holds the tooth structure together. Crowns can be made in metal (such as gold) or in ceramic (natural tooth coloured). Crowns can be used to change the cosmetic appearance of teeth, and also to protect teeth from further damage e.g. after root canal treatment.
Bridges
A bridge is a dental restoration that spans an area that has no teeth, and is connected to natural teeth at each end. We will discuss your suitability for bridgework with you should you wish for gaps in your mouth to be replaced.
Implants
Titanium implants are now frequently an option for patients wanting to replace their missing teeth.
Crowns, bridges and also dentures can then be attached to these implants to help restore a full dentition.
Oral Surgery
Teeth can be extracted at the practice under local anaesthetic. We appreciate that coming to have a tooth out can be daunting, and will seek to make it as hassle-free and comfortable as possible for you. We are able to refer cysts, difficult wisdom teeth, unusual patches and lumps to oral surgery departments in our local hospitals.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is a dental procedure in which the diseased or damaged pulp (core) of a tooth is removed and the inside areas (the pulp chamber and root canals) are filled and sealed. Once root canal treatment is performed, the patient must have a crown placed over the tooth to protect it. The cost of the treatment and the crown may be expensive. However, replacing an extracted tooth with a fixed bridge, a removable partial denture, or an implant to maintain the space and restore the chewing function is typically even more expensive.
Dentures
A denture is a partial or complete set of artificial teeth for either the upper or lower jaw. It can be made in acrylic (plastic) or in metal. In recent times denture production techniques have improved and dentures now appear much more natural. Nobody need ever know that you are wearing a denture!
Tooth Whitening
Countless people consider white teeth to be an attractive feature of a smile. A child's baby teeth are usually whiter than the adult teeth that follow. As a person ages, the adult teeth become darker. This is due to changes in the mineral structure of the tooth, as well as food, drink and tobacco.
White teeth are subconsciously linked with youth, and so have become more and more desirable. Teeth are lightened using oxidising agents such as hydrogen peroxide, and excellent results can be achieved.
Impressions will be taken of your teeth, and then special trays that fit your teeth perfectly will be constructed by the dental laboratory. We will then show you how to use the trays at home to achieve a whiter smile, reviewing your progress on a number of occasions.
Prices start at £265.00

Veneers
By improving the shape, colour and alignment of your teeth, you could also be transforming your entire outlook on life by gaining confidence, smiling more and achieving your goals! Porcelain veneers use the latest technology to cover stains, close gaps and straighten your teeth. Preparation of the teeth is kept to a minimum wherever possible, and amazing results can usually be achieved in just two visits.
Veneers are thin shells of ceramic that are bonded to the front of your teeth (like false fingernails). The veneers can be any shape, size or colour you want. We can advise you what we think looks best for you, but will ensure you get the result you want. Sculpted models of what can be achieved are constructed beforehand to help in the decision making process.
Once you are happy, the veneers are fixed/cemented permanently to give you a smile that will last for years. If you think veneers could change your smile call the practice on 01530 415353 to arrange a consultation.

Invisalign
Clear aligners are orthodontic devices that are a transparent, plastic form of dental braces used to adjust teeth.

We promise that all referrals to specialist practitioners will be made promptly.
Dermal fillers are injected into the dermis to soften and smooth facial lines and wrinkles. Fillers are commonly used around the mouth, eyes, nose and forehead and can enhance the lips, giving them greater volume and a fuller appearance. Some fillers are also used for facial contouring; for example, cheek and chin dimples can be produced, or the contours of the face can be altered.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most commonly used today. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the skin, joints and eyes. The Hyaluronic acid in fillers is cross-linked to inhibit absorption, this gives them a longevity of six to nine months.
Wrinkle correction treatments are effective in improving lines or wrinkles due to facial expressions. For example, worry lines or frown lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows, and crow's feet by the eyes. Muscle relaxant injections are tailored to the needs of the individual.
The facial aesthetics consultation fee is refunded against the cost of any treatments provided.
